Grade A: The USPSTF recommends the service. There is high certainty<\/strong> that the net benefit is substantial<\/em><\/strong>.

Grade B: The USPSTF recommends the service. There is high certainty<\/strong> that the net benefit is moderate<\/em><\/strong> or there is moderate certainty<\/strong> that the net benefit is moderate to substantial<\/em><\/strong>.

Grade C: The USPSTF recommends selectively offering or providing this service to individual patients based on professional judgment and patient preferences. There is at least moderate certainty<\/strong> that the net benefit is small<\/em><\/strong>.

Grade D: The USPSTF recommends against the service. There is moderate or high certainty<\/strong> that the service has no net benefit<\/em><\/strong> or that the harms outweigh the benefits.<\/em><\/strong>

Grade I : The USPSTF concludes that the current evidence is insufficient to assess the balance of benefits and harms of the service. Evidence is lacking, of poor quality, or conflicting, and the balance of benefits and harms cannot be determined. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite these revisions, the essence of the C recommendation has remained consistent: at the population level, the balance of benefits and harms is very close, and the magnitude of net benefit is small.

Evidence is sufficient to determine effects on health outcomes, but the strength of the evidence is limited by the number, quality, or consistency of the individual studies, generalizability to routine practice, or indirect nature of the evidence on health outcomes. The available evidence is sufficient to determine the effects of the preventive service on health outcomes, but confidence in the estimate is constrained by such factors as:
